Mission

The graduate school focuses itself on computational chemistry and spectroscopic methods. It intends to offer the participating post-graduate students a deep understanding of a broad range of technologies, based on fundamental chemistry and physics. The education seeks to provide the students with innovative capabilities that are useful in any field of their future professional carrier. The field is very demanding and will give the students excellent capabilities and skills that are essential for solving practical problems, e.g., in industry. Our network comprises almost every research group in Finland working in computational chemistry and the best Finnish spectroscopic laboratories. All professors in the network have a similar teaching profile based on the fundaments of molecular science. They have a long tradition in collaborating and this has obviously lead to a number of joint publications. The scientific and educational synergy and good personal collaboration provide an excellent basis for the success of the graduate school.

The mission of the graduate school is to educate experts of highest level for the industry and research. Our doctors will have a deep understanding of the principles and practice of measuring techniques as well as programming skills needed to use and design instruments. The demanding and focused education of the graduate school will offer the students a winning edge on the job market by making the eligible for leading positions in widely varying field of employment. They will easily adapt to new still more demanding positions. The many-faceted research of the network is a good example of the diversity of the tasks that our broad education prepares for. This competence will certainly be most useful also in industrial research and development projects.
